<para heading="">Bahrain Labour Market Indicators (BLMI) is a system of regularly updated statistical tables with charts and analysis designed to monitor key elements of the labour market of Bahrain for guiding policy decisions of the Board of Directors of LMRA.</para>
<para heading="">The system has been developed in response to LMRA Law no. 19/2006 on Regulating the Labour Market which stipulates in its Article 4 (para. A.II) that <emphasis>"the Authority will be the principal source that releases the accurate intelligence and information and statistics related to the labour market in the Kingdom."</emphasis></para>
<para heading="">The main components of the system are available to the public in this Website in the form of a summary dashboard with key messages and charts, detail sets of data with selected graphics, with links to international statistics, and a list of supporting documents, glossary of main concepts and definitions, and frequently asked questions (FAQs).</para>
<para heading="">This website is best viewed using Microsoft Internet Explorer.</para>
<para heading="">The summary dashboard with the key messages and charts are also made available to the public in hardcopy format as a bilingual Newsletter in <link to="2020\12\newsletter_ar.pdf" target="_blank">Arabic</link> and <link to="2020\12\newsletter_en.pdf" target="_blank">English</link>.</para>
<para heading="Feedback">LMI is under continuous development. The feedback of users will greatly help this process. Any comments on inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and other errors in the tables and in the links will also be greatly appreciated.</para>

<para heading="">Note: All percentage growth rates or differences of levels shown in the dashboard represent the change from the same quarter a year before except for the indicators 7 to 11, where the change is compared to previous quarter.</para>
-->
<para heading="LMI database">The LMI database is composed of five parts: Core data, Survey data, Other national, International data and On request data.</para>
<para heading="">A few comments on the Core and Survey data, the data quality, and the processing system are made below:</para>
<para heading="- Core data">The core data are presented in PDF and Excel format with a standard structure: the statistical table at the top of the page followed by selected graphics at the bottom of the page. </para>
<para heading="">The core data comprise two types of tables: Time series and Cross-classifications. The time series tables are presented by year from 1996 onward where available, and by quarter for the current year. Where data for particular years or quarters were not available, the corresponding line or lines are left blank so that the table layouts remain unchanged. The cross-classification tables show data for a given point of time, generally, the date of the latest set of available data.</para>
<para heading="">The core data comprise a list of numbered tables (Tables 1 to 82) with currently missing tables in between, and lettered tables (Tables A and B). The numbered tables are obtained from non-LMRA sources and the lettered tables are compiled by LMRA based on a combination of sources.</para>
<para heading="- Survey data">The survey data are presented in Microsoft Excel format and cover the results of specially conducted surveys by LMRA.</para>

<!--
<para heading="">In future issues of LMI, data from other LMRA surveys will be released as the survey results become available. In particular, it is planned to release the results of the LMRA labour force survey 2007 and the LMRA survey of foreign workers 2008 in forthcoming issues of the Website.</para>
-->

<para heading="- Data quality">The accuracy of the data presented here depends in most cases on the quality of data received from the original source. To the extent feasible attempts have made to present the data under standardised labels with description given in the Glossary. Where possible, data have been harmonised in line with <link to="http://www.ilo.org/public/english/bureau/stat/standards/index.htm">ILO International standard definitions and classifications</link>
   as well as <link to="https://dsbb.imf.org/">IMF General Data Dissemination Standards (GDDS)</link>.
</para>
<para heading="">In case of Tables A and B on total employment and wages where multiple sources were used, attempts have been made to adjust the original data for inconsistencies using labour accounting principles. The calculation procedure can be traced in the Excel file made available in document section of the website.</para>
<para heading="- Data processing">Data are collected on monthly basis from different sources according to official service level agreements with various agencies in the Kingdom including LMRA itself, GOSI, PFC, CSB, MoIC. The source data are loaded into LMRA system into a staging area that maintains a copy in the database. Then the data are loaded into a data warehouse organised in terms of particular topics such as Employment, Unemployment, and Economic units. The data are further processed into suitable variables called Key Performance Indicators. </para>
